Last weekend was the annual Golf & Games Weekend at Hauli Huvila. Usually one of the more mellow event weekends and this year had a very small group. The Kings river was flowing high enough to jump in and go floating. It was really nice.

Caught this great photo in the garden while a grasshopper was hanging out on our fig tree. I love the details of the underside of the leaf, the face, eyes and tentacles of the grasshopper, each showcasing the amazing natural patterns provided by mother nature. This makes for a great wallpaper for the desktop, tablet, phone or even your Facebook cover. Download yours now and I hope you enjoy it.

Last night we received little overnight rain storm for April 1st. It’s nice since we’ve had a record dry Winter season and Spring has been fairly dry too. Hopefully we’ll get a few more rain showers to water our lands, as the saying goes April Showers Bring May Flowers.

Succulents always surprise me when they are blooming flowers. Typically the flowers usually come in the spring, as is the case with this one, but they can often appear throughout the year depending on the type of succulent.

The last few days we’ve been getting some much needed rain. California has been going through a very dry and warm winter season, so it’s nice to finally get some rain. Hopefully we’ll get a lot more with some cooler weather so we can get some snow in the mountains.  During a break in the rain I went out and snapped off a few pictures capturing the fresh water drops on the plants, this one of a succulent covered in water drops turned out really nice and can be used as a wallpaper for your computer, tablet, phone or Facebook cover. I hope you enjoy it.

Gnomes N’ Kale

This week I did some gardening and planted various veggies and fruit throughout our garden yard, the sun was out, it was warm and felt really good to soak it all in. The main area I use for vegetable gardening gets about two thirds of the days sunshine. The veggies grow fairly well in the early part of spring and usually thrive in the hot 100° summer days, but not as much the last few years, the garden patch gets shadowed by our fruit trees which have more than doubled in size over the last few years, so it gets less sun as the trees begin to fill in the leaves and fruit. Which does not work as well for some veggies that require full sun to properly grow.

Yesterday I spent most of the day in the garden, preparing and planting some seasonal vegetables and fruits that will grow over the next 3 to 6 months. Spring is one of my favorite times of the year to be in the garden, it’s when life begins to push itself out of the dormant trees, vines, and plants, they start reaching for the blue sky and warm sun, ready to grow and transform our garden into a beautiful lush paradise.

Here’s the seventh post in a series from the road trip to Bryce Canyon that took place over the weekend of July 13th and 14th, where I attended the Bryce Canyon Half Marathon race. This post shows off a few of the beautiful details that nature provides, the previous posts covered Bryce Canyon Up Close, Bryce Canyon Vistas, Heavens of Zion, Bryce Birds, Bryce Sky, and Bryce Wood. I think this will be the last post from the Bryce Canyon trip.
