Alien Isolation

Alien Isolation

I dove into Alien Isolation with a little of caution, I wasn’t sure what to expect after reading the mixed reviews that rated the game from phenomenal to sub-par.  It seems like the game requires a good amount of patience and an open mind about how it should be played.  Depending on the type of person who played the game, they either loved it or became irritated by the endless trial and error combined with the surprisingly extended length.

It’s been a while since my last wallpaper post. I’ve been distracted with a few things in life. Today we got a nice rainy day. I’ve missed the rain and welcome the Fall and Winter weather this season. Today reminds me of my time living in Seattle. We’d get nice rainy days like this for weeks at a time, which would drive some people nuts, but I always embraced the weather and appreciated it for what it was.

The Secret

Last week my wife Jenny told me she wanted to watch a movie with me that was on YouTube called The Secret. She said pull it up on the big screen TV. I thought, a YouTube video, this should be quick, I pulled it up on the TV through our Apple TV. At the time I wasn’t expecting to watch a 90 minute movie, I was busy selfishly entertaining myself with Borderlands 2. So I was a little grumpy when I learned it was a 90 minute movie. However my attitude quickly changed once I realized the importance of this film.

Last time we visited Hauli Huvila during the Golf and Games weekend in early August, I was asked about possibly updating the Hauli Huvila website. The existing site was severely outdated, both in terms of content and functionality when compared to modern-day websites.

This week on September 20th of 2012, I turned 42 years old. As my brother Antero the astrologer says, I’ve completed another lap around the Sun. Like a spec of dust in our infinite universe, I am simply a passenger along for the ride of this thing called life, a life that continues to move forward with or without us.

Last night was the so-called blue moon, technically it is no different from every other full moon we experience other than getting a full moon twice in one month.  August 2012 happen to be that month, we had a full moon on the first of August and now another full moon on the last day of August.

I took these Angeles sunset photos last July during Jussi’s Angeles Crest 100 Mile Endurance Run. We were heading home on the Angeles Crest Highway while Jussi still had about 50 miles to run through the night before finishing his 100 mile race the following morning.

Dead Can Dance Concert

Last night I was able to experience a fairly rare concert by one of my favorite artists, Dead Can Dance. A unique transcending aural experience that can penetrate deep into your heart and soul to fill it with mesmerizing warmth. There is nothing quite like the music of Dead Can Dance lead by the powerful haunting vocals of Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry.

Duran Duran was one of the biggest Britpop bands from the 80’s and 90’s that dominated the MTV air waves and Billboard charts. While I’ve never been a big fan of the band, they do have several classic hit songs that helped define pop music in those decades.

Gotta hand it to Rockstar, after so many years since the original Max Payne game they go out and bring the game back to life in a full on reboot. I have to admit, at first I wasn’t sure that they were going to pull it off, but after completing the game, impressively enough, they pulled it off and knocked it out of the park. They retained the classic elements while elevating the game with stellar action driven gameplay and a remarkably good story to keep you captivated through to the end.
