Here’s the fourth post in a series from the road trip to Bryce Canyon that took place over the weekend of July 13th and 14th, where I attended the Bryce Canyon Half Marathon race. This post is of two birds that I photographed while at the Rainbow Point overlook at Bryce Canyon, the previous posts covered Bryce Canyon Up Close, Bryce Canyon Vistas, and Heavens of Zion. I’ll be making a few more posts featuring some great macros and a sunset.

Here’s the second post in a series from the road trip to Bryce Canyon that took place over the weekend of July 13th and 14th where I attended the Bryce Canyon Half Marathon race. This post focuses on Bryce Canyon Up Close, the first covered Bryce Canyon Vistas. I’ll be making a few more posts featuring Zion National Park, some great macros, and a sunset.

I ended up taking over 1500 photos using a combination of my HTC One phone and Nikon D5100 camera. After going through all of the photos and filtering out the weak ones I ended up with 738 that I posted over my Flickr along with a few videos. Then I went through picked out the best ones to share as wallpapers for your desktop, iPad, phone, and Facebook cover.

Bryce Canyon Up Close

The massive scope and scale of the vistas at Bryce were majestic, hiking into the canyons and getting up close and personal gave it an entirely new perspective and experience. On our first hike we went out-of-bounds and made our own path climbing up a steep hill to get close to the massive structures. Ryan even climbed a very steep and sketchy part to make it to the top of one of them.

We discovered the towering structures are called Hoodoos, the ones off the main path were fairly soft and will easily crumble, while the ones along the park trails were much more solid.  Hiking along the trails you come into a few narrow paths where the Hoodoos are towering over you making for some inspiring views when looking up at the sky. While these photos give you a taste of Bryce Canyon, they can not capture the true majestic beauty that will put you in awe when experienced in person. To see all the photos visit my Flickr and I hope you enjoy these select photos.

On the weekend of July 13th and 14th I attended the Bryce Canyon Half Marathon race. A race I had never run before, but figured it makes for a great excuse to get out and experience the beauty of Bryce Canyon.

Taking notice of your surroundings and views is part of appreciating life. You don’t want to let beautiful things or views pass you by when you can take a moment to observe and appreciate it.

Spring is here and the garden is springing with life! New leafs and flowers are popping up from their dormant winter sleep. Here are a few shots I took in the afternoon sunlight of some of the succulents in our garden. Use them as wallpapers for your desktop, iPad, iPhone, or Facebook cover.

A few weeks ago Jäger The Cat and I were enjoying some nice warm SoCal winter weather in the garden. While he is an indoor cat, we do let him go into our back yard on a harness and leash.

Currently in Southern California we are getting a typical stretch of nice warm weather in the heart of Winter. This week the days have been getting into the 70’s and 80’s outside. The warm weather always gets me into our yard to see what needs to be done.

It’s been a while since my last wallpaper post. I’ve been distracted with a few things in life. Today we got a nice rainy day. I’ve missed the rain and welcome the Fall and Winter weather this season. Today reminds me of my time living in Seattle. We’d get nice rainy days like this for weeks at a time, which would drive some people nuts, but I always embraced the weather and appreciated it for what it was.

Last night was the so-called blue moon, technically it is no different from every other full moon we experience other than getting a full moon twice in one month.  August 2012 happen to be that month, we had a full moon on the first of August and now another full moon on the last day of August.
