Here’s the seventh post in a series from the road trip to Bryce Canyon that took place over the weekend of July 13th and 14th, where I attended the Bryce Canyon Half Marathon race. This post shows off a few of the beautiful details that nature provides, the previous posts covered Bryce Canyon Up Close, Bryce Canyon Vistas, Heavens of Zion, Bryce Birds, Bryce Sky, and Bryce Wood. I think this will be the last post from the Bryce Canyon trip.

Here’s the second post in a series from the road trip to Bryce Canyon that took place over the weekend of July 13th and 14th where I attended the Bryce Canyon Half Marathon race. This post focuses on Bryce Canyon Up Close, the first covered Bryce Canyon Vistas. I’ll be making a few more posts featuring Zion National Park, some great macros, and a sunset.

I ended up taking over 1500 photos using a combination of my HTC One phone and Nikon D5100 camera. After going through all of the photos and filtering out the weak ones I ended up with 738 that I posted over my Flickr along with a few videos. Then I went through picked out the best ones to share as wallpapers for your desktop, iPad, phone, and Facebook cover.

Bryce Canyon Up Close

The massive scope and scale of the vistas at Bryce were majestic, hiking into the canyons and getting up close and personal gave it an entirely new perspective and experience. On our first hike we went out-of-bounds and made our own path climbing up a steep hill to get close to the massive structures. Ryan even climbed a very steep and sketchy part to make it to the top of one of them.

We discovered the towering structures are called Hoodoos, the ones off the main path were fairly soft and will easily crumble, while the ones along the park trails were much more solid.  Hiking along the trails you come into a few narrow paths where the Hoodoos are towering over you making for some inspiring views when looking up at the sky. While these photos give you a taste of Bryce Canyon, they can not capture the true majestic beauty that will put you in awe when experienced in person. On the weekend of July 13th and 14th I attended the Bryce Canyon Half Marathon race. A race I had never run before, but figured it makes for a great excuse to get out and experience the beauty of Bryce Canyon.

On the morning of the 2011 Santa Barbara Marathon I had noticed from our hotel room that it was going to be a beautiful sunrise. It had rained in the night and there were clouds breaking away to blue skies as the sun was rising.

After posting the Cambria Cliff Rock desktop, I thought I’d share a few more of the desktop quality photos from that trip. These two desktops, titled Sculpterra Eagles and Sculpterra Fishtail, are from Sculpterra Winery, a winery on the east side of Paso Robles.  They have a beautiful sculpture garden surrounding the wine tasting room.

After posting the Cambria Cliff Rock desktop, I thought I’d share a few more of the desktop quality photos from that trip. These two desktops, titled Whalebone Blossom and Whalebone Barrel, are from Whalebone Vineyards, a small winery on the west side of Paso Robles. A beautiful drive on Vineyard Drive off HWY 46 going north.  They have a great wine tasting room up on a small hill overlooking the vineyard valley.
