Angeles Sunset
I took these Angeles sunset photos last July during Jussi’s Angeles Crest 100 Mile Endurance Run. We were heading home on the Angeles Crest Highway while Jussi still had about 50 miles to run through the night before finishing his 100 mile race the following morning.
Hauli Sunset
This past weekend we went to the Finnish camp Hauli Huvila for their Golf and Games weekend. While we skipped the actual golfing, it turned out to be a more intimate and smaller crowd this weekend compared to our previous visit on Memorial Day Weekend, which was packed and very rowdy.
Orange Succulent Stigmas
The warm Summer weather has finally kicked in at our home. This week we’ve hit over 100° degrees each day of the week. While it makes for hot days, once the sun starts to go down the evenings are awesome, turning to nice warm nights to enjoy outside in the yard. This week while doing a little bit of yard work as the sun was starting to set, I noticed one of our hanging succulents had this beautiful little orange and white flowers starting to open up.
Hauli Huvila Wallpapers
While at Hauli Huvila over Memorial Day Weekend we captured a lot of photos. You can see a lot of them in my other article about Hauili Huvila here. Select photos of the Finnish Flag, the beautiful sunset, along with some of the wild flowers turned out really nice. Good enough to be used as wallpapers for your desktop, iPad (now in the new iPad retina display size), iPhone, and Facebook cover. I hope you enjoy them.
Wild Wild West
Earlier this month we participated in the 34th Annual Wild Wild West Marathon that took place in the foothills of Mt. Whitney near Lone Pine, California. A trail race event that has four different run distances; a 5k, 10 mile, full marathon at 26.2, and a 50k marathon, for full details read my Wild Wild West Marathon event report. After going through the all the photos I found a handful that turned out really nice as wallpapers, they showcase a little bit of the beauty of the mountains and nature of the local area.
Sunrise Buddha
Today we visited the Hsi Lai Temple to pray and enjoy their vegan lunch. While we were there I snapped off a few photos with my Nexus One phone. Surprisingly the one I took of the large Buddha head in the parking lot turned out really good. I imported the photo into Adobe Lightroom for some color correction and apply an aged treatment to it, then I brought it into Adobe Photoshop and had the idea of blending it with a sunrise photo I took from my run a few days ago.
Ladybugs
This week we cleaned out our backyard and setup our Summer room so we can enjoy our meals and relax outside in the beautiful Southern California weather. We also did a bit of gardening and released 1500 ladybugs throughout our garden and yard. Also known as ladybird beetles or lady beetles as they are considered to be a part of the beetle family, but in America they are most commonly known as ladybugs.
Jäger’s Green Eyes
Yesterday, April 16th, was the second birthday of our cat Jäger, Jenny got him a cupcake to celebrate. Jäger is a beautiful Russian blue cat that we have had for almost 2 years now. He even has his very own Facebook page where we log and share his videos, photos, and various activities.
Aloe Flowers in April
One of our aloe succulent plants has grown to be very large and oversized over the years. Each year in the Spring, a huge stalk grows out which then branches off into a crown beautiful flowers. One that is very unique with several stages to create delicate textures and colors. Once they open up we get humming birds coming for the honey.
Spring Fruit Flowers
Spring is officially here today and it’s already showing itself off in our garden. Our fruit trees are starting to get their first flowers which will eventually turn into fruit. Here are two photos from our trees, the first is from our purple cherry plum tree that eventually has those deep purple leaves with lots of little plums that are the size of a cherry, they are very sweet.
