Heavens of Zion
Here’s the third post in a series from the road trip to Bryce Canyon that took place over the weekend of July 13th and 14th where I attended the Bryce Canyon Half Marathon race. This post focuses on the Heavens of Zion, while the previous ones covered Bryce Canyon Up Close and Bryce Canyon Vistas. I’ll be making a few more posts featuring some great macros and a sunset.
Bryce Canyon Up Close
Here’s the second post in a series from the road trip to Bryce Canyon that took place over the weekend of July 13th and 14th where I attended the Bryce Canyon Half Marathon race. This post focuses on Bryce Canyon Up Close, the first covered Bryce Canyon Vistas. I’ll be making a few more posts featuring Zion National Park, some great macros, and a sunset.
I ended up taking over 1500 photos using a combination of my HTC One phone and Nikon D5100 camera. After going through all of the photos and filtering out the weak ones I ended up with 738 that I posted over my Flickr along with a few videos. Then I went through picked out the best ones to share as wallpapers for your desktop, iPad, phone, and Facebook cover.
Bryce Canyon Up Close
The massive scope and scale of the vistas at Bryce were majestic, hiking into the canyons and getting up close and personal gave it an entirely new perspective and experience. On our first hike we went out-of-bounds and made our own path climbing up a steep hill to get close to the massive structures. Ryan even climbed a very steep and sketchy part to make it to the top of one of them.
We discovered the towering structures are called Hoodoos, the ones off the main path were fairly soft and will easily crumble, while the ones along the park trails were much more solid. Hiking along the trails you come into a few narrow paths where the Hoodoos are towering over you making for some inspiring views when looking up at the sky. While these photos give you a taste of Bryce Canyon, they can not capture the true majestic beauty that will put you in awe when experienced in person. Bryce Canyon Vistas
On the weekend of July 13th and 14th I attended the Bryce Canyon Half Marathon race. A race I had never run before, but figured it makes for a great excuse to get out and experience the beauty of Bryce Canyon.
Inner Peace
Being able to find and hone-in on our inner peace is essential to keeping ourselves in balance while remaining in focus on our path in life. As believer in Buddhism, throughout my life I’ve strived to keep my inner peace regularly active. I feel it helps me be a better more caring person in life. Everyone finds their own inner peace through different means, but there are many common elements that help us achieve it.
Jäger The Cat
A few weeks ago Jäger The Cat and I were enjoying some nice warm SoCal winter weather in the garden. While he is an indoor cat, we do let him go into our back yard on a harness and leash.
My dailymile 2012 Summary
It’s that time again, the new year is here and time to reflect on how we did with our fitness and health in 2012, and we want to happen in 2013. Here is my dailymile 2012 summary. The annual summary that shows off your logged miles and activity for the year. In looking back at my dailymile 2011 summary from last year, there is a pretty big difference.
The Secret
Last week my wife Jenny told me she wanted to watch a movie with me that was on YouTube called The Secret. She said pull it up on the big screen TV. I thought, a YouTube video, this should be quick, I pulled it up on the TV through our Apple TV. At the time I wasn’t expecting to watch a 90 minute movie, I was busy selfishly entertaining myself with Borderlands 2. So I was a little grumpy when I learned it was a 90 minute movie. However my attitude quickly changed once I realized the importance of this film.
